I was given a Maplin VIC-20 voice PCB today from my Dad. Its based on the SP0256-AL2 speech synthesizer. Ive got some basic documentation for it, and made it say Beer!.
Model number is GB17T.

I too have one of these. Does it require specific software, or more cables? If so, can you please provide me with some information.

Hi Shaun,
No software is required. You do some POKE’ing to play the sounds. I have a copy of the manual somewhere at home. Will dig it out and upload it.
You need two cables. One between the A/V output of the VIC to the voice cartridge. There is also a lead from the cartridge to the joystick port.
